Heated Relationships
|
In the dangerous heat of the desert each organism must fight for every resource. The fact that there is a limited amount of resources means the desert is not as populated as any other biome. The relationships connect to every organism as there is not that much energy to begin with. Producers are more important here than any where else as there is such a limited amount. Most organisms here are small as they can't support the energy needed to support a large body. And instead of bears and lions being the top predators reptiles and raptors reign supreme here. The fights between animals here are not determined on strength instead they are determined by quick surprising attacks. The small mammals are the first level consumers which have litters by the hundreds are meant to support the upper level reptiles. Finally at the top of the food chain are the raptors and the occasional coyote.
